Construction of a major utility tunnel and valve vaults for steam and chilled water. Occasional pedestrian path detours and vehicle lane shifting required from intersection of Wilson Drive/Center Drive north along Center Drive to north end of Building 31C.

Gateway/Metro Pedestrian Portal Refurbishment – Sally Port #2
Pedestrian portal and turnstiles under renovation. Delays in reopening due to supply chain issues. Pedestrians with NIH PIV cards can enter campus by going inside the NIH Gateway Center, badging in, going upstairs and exiting out the back door.

Gateway Vehicle Inspection – Hours of Operation Change
Expanded the morning hours of operation from 5am to 4am to help offset increased early morning traffic at the Commercial Vehicle Inspection Facility (CVIF); reduced late afternoon hours due to inactivity.

Hours of Operation: 4am – 4pm, Monday – Friday

Lot 4A to Valet
Lot 4A will be converted to valet parking for hospital patients and visitors. While this change happens, visitor parking will be available at a new Lot 18 (south side of campus) or MLP-11.

Lot 18 Temporary Visitor Lot
Lot 18 is a temporary visitor lot replacing Lot 4A. The lot holds 104 vehicles and is open Monday – Friday, 6am – 9pm. The lot will be serviced by the NIH Campus and Campus Limited shuttle routes.

Express Shuttle runs mornings (6:30am – 9:30 am) and afternoons (4:30pm – 7:30pm) providing transport between Building 10 South Entrance and Lots 41 & 42 Employee Parking

Temporary Road – South Drive to Building 60/Convent
With a portion of Center Drive closed, this temporary roadway will allow access to Buildings 60 (Cloisters), 61 (Convent) and 65 (Safra Lodge).

Lincoln Drive – Double Entrance Capacity
A second gate arm installed at the Lincoln Drive entrance will double the gate’s capacity for vehicles to enter campus. The guard booth and exit lanes will be repositioned to improve pedestrian safety at the intersection of Old Georgetown Road.
